HOME / Marco and Scott's Story

Marco was diagnosed with kidney failure when he was 17 years old and he learned that he would need dialysis three times each week until he was able to receive a kidney transplant.  He waited over three years for a kidney transplant. Marco also starred in a commercial to promote living kidney donation.

Scott began looking into living kidney donation after dealing with a medical condition that affected two of his own kids.  “I started thinking about how I would feel if I couldn’t have helped my own kids and I wanted to help someone else,” Scott explains.

After Scott was approved for living kidney donation, his kidney was discovered to be a great match for Marco and the surgery was scheduled the day before Marco’s 21st birthday.  Marco and Scott met for the first time two days before the surgery.

Marco and Scott now team up to encourage others to consider living kidney donation and to register as organ, eye and tissue donors.  They have told their story on Fox News and on the Eagle radio station.  Scott is hoping their efforts encourage at least 45 more people to become Good Samaritan Kidney Donors within the next year.
