Student Activities

There are several great resoures with information about organ donation.  Some websites even have interactive activities to help people better understand donation.  Here are links to a few of my favorites.

HeartOperation: Heart Transplant
or How to Transplant a Heart in Nineteen Easy Steps

Enter our virtual NOVA operating theatre, where you will be given a scalpel and perform a heart transplant of your own. Yes, our version of the operation has been greatly simplified. Nevertheless, all of the basic steps are outlined in this feature, and by the end of the operation, you will have a pretty good idea of what's involved in taking the heart of one human and making it work in another.

Interactive Student Activities
Decision: Donation was created to educate the nation's youth about the importance of organ and tissue donation and the need to make an informed decision about whether to be a donor and to encourage them to share their donation wishes with their families. Their website contains a list of activities.  My favorites are "Organ Profiles" and "Transplantation Timeline".

Trillium Gift of Life Network
This is an interactive website developed by Trillium Gift of Life Network in Ontario, Canada. It features a young man with a large incision down his chest. When you click on the incision, it will take you inside his body and give an explanation of each organ.

If you like these activities or you come across other activities you think we should add, please feel free to send us an email.
